Experience
I believe every student has the ability to excel. Over the past 14 years, I have helped hundreds of students develop the skills necessary for peak performance. This philosophy has propelled students I've worked with to merit scholarships at top ranked colleges including Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and NC State. I provide tutoring in core academic subjects--math, English, and science--that helps students improve grades. I also work as an Academic Life Coach to help students reduce stress, relieve frustration in relationships with family and friends, and reduce anxiety about college. Through coaching, students build self-awareness and learn about pursuing a passion outside the bounds of the normal classroom. Experience: Teaching Fellow, Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Linguistics 200, 2016. Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics Science Education Department: Associate, Quantitative Research. Lead teacher, mathematics, robotics, and programming, Khan Academy Discovery Lab 2013. Spanish Teacher, Northern High School, Durham, and the Chapel Hill Institute for Cultural and Language Education, 2006 - 2010. Elementary English Teacher, El Guijo, Spain, 2009. Biology Teacher, Arthur Morgan School, National Science Foundation grant recipient for student-centered, experiment-based middle school program, 2008. I scored in the top 3% on the SAT, top 2% on the ACT, and top 5% on the GRE, including perfect scores on the ACT and GRE reading comprehension sections.
